Cool your car in summer - Autokappa | Blog | Autokappa

In summer, thanks to the sun on fire your car turns into a real sauna. It certainly happened (and not only once) you want to go somewhere, but as soon as you enter the car to feel suffocated due to the unbearable heat in the passenger compartment. What to do to avoid such a scenario? Well, here are some suggestions:

Parks the car in the shade

Choose a parking lot to predominate the shadow. If you don’t find a place to be totally shaded, look for a place where the sun beats in the back of the car. In this way you will avoid heating the table, the steering wheel and the gearbox. If you notice that the method does not bear fruit, you can always rely on the windshield and back.

If you have forgotten your car during the summer fire and when you enter this you feel like in the sauna, do not forget that the hot air is easier than the cold one, then get up to the ceiling of your car.

To remove the hot air from the car it is necessary to let the air conditioning go (without using the recirculation) and redirect the air flow to the legs with slightly open windows. After the hot air comes out completely, you can close the windows and activate the recirculation.

Use the air conditioning correctly

To get better ventilation, it is advisable to start the air conditioning immediately to start the function of the car and leave the windows closed or at most interdistated. Therefore, the passenger compartment will have better ventilation and you will surely feel better.

However, it is not advisable to abuse this function. The obvious reason is that there is the possibility that the atmosphere is cooled.

The engine also needs protection

In addition to the passenger compartment, the engine temperature is another thing to consider in the summer. To do this, make sure that the level of antifreeze is within normal limits and wears a reserve with you to integrate if necessary. We all know that the antifreeze has a very low frost. At the same time, it also has a very high boiling point.

Avoid overheating tires

In order to avoid excess heating of the tires, it is advisable to check their pressure before leaving. If this is smaller than necessary, the wheels will cover a wider part of the asphalt, therefore a larger friction force will be created and, of course, more heat, which will lead to usury and accentuated losses.

How do you cool your car summer

Conclusion

Excessive heat inside a car during the summer is not only uncomfortable but can also pose risks to both the vehicle and its occupants. When a car is exposed to direct sunlight for long periods, interior temperatures can rise rapidly, reaching levels that are dangerous for people, pets, and even electronic systems. This extreme heat can damage upholstery, dashboards, and plastics, while also reducing the efficiency of air conditioning systems and overall driving comfort.

Preventing this problem starts with simple yet effective habits. Parking in shaded areas, using windshield sunshades, and slightly opening windows to allow air circulation can significantly reduce interior temperatures. Additionally, applying reflective or tinted window films helps block harmful UV rays and prevent heat buildup. Before getting into the car, it’s also advisable to open the doors briefly to allow the hot air to escape. These small precautions can make a noticeable difference in keeping your vehicle cooler and more comfortable.

Maintaining your air conditioning system in good working condition is another key step. Regularly checking refrigerant levels, cleaning vents, and replacing cabin filters ensure optimal performance during the hottest months. Proper ventilation not only enhances comfort but also helps protect the car’s interior materials from long-term damage caused by excessive heat.

In conclusion, while summer heat can transform your car into an unbearable space, a few preventive measures can help you maintain a pleasant and safe driving environment. By being proactive and mindful of how you park, protect, and ventilate your vehicle, you can avoid the discomfort of scorching interiors and preserve your car’s condition. Staying cool behind the wheel is not just about comfort — it’s also about safety, efficiency, and protecting your investment.
